Bioshock Demo
I just started downloading the massive demo for Bioshock, all 1.8 gigs of it. I’ve heard alot of hype about this game and I wanted to see a little of it myself. I’ll let you know how the game looks after I have time to play this weekend. I might post a few screen shots if I think about it. I’m pretty sure my system can handle it at least at lower resolutions. I’ve got one EVGA 7900 Gt card right now, I was planning on getting another one soon for SLI.
Update: I went ahead and got Bioshock for the Xbox 360, I haven’t played it yet.
It’s Aliveeeeee
I’ve just had to raise my pc from the dead. Recently the power went out and unfortunately my pc was lost in the depths of corrupted hard drives. I tried everything I knew to allow me to get back to my desktop but all was lost so a quick format and 15 minutes later I had a brand new install of XP. I’ve been wanting to reinstall for a little while anyway. Luckily I had a backup of all my documents and settings and didn’t lose anything in that respect. I spent most of a day reinstalling the applications that I use and getting everything feeling like home again.
New Gaming Machine Part 2
I just finished putting together my new gaming rig. I have to say it was one of the least painful builds that I’ve done in a long time. Everything just seemed to fit right where it needed to go. The only problem I ran into was Windows setup not recognizing my USB floppy when I need the SATA drivers. So I just robbed a floppy out of another machine.
I decided against going with the Abit board in favor of a Foxconn board and I have to say I’m very pleased. I was a little concerned about the memory voltage not being high enough by default. I read a couple reviews stating that the Abit board didn’t work with 1.9V memory which is what I had already ordered, so I found the Foxconn board on sale at Newegg.
The one thing I do know is this thing is fast. Windows was installed and up and running in 10 minutes. Keep in mind that this was a full install, with formatting a 150 GB drive, of XP SP2b.
New Gaming Machine
I know it’s been a while since I last posted but things got a little hectic when the school I work for started back. Now I’m gathering pieces for a new gaming machine. So far I’ve got the case (Antec P180) and video card (eVga 7900 GT PCI express, going to get another one eventually for SLI). Parts to come are OCZ mod stream 700W SLI power supply, 2GB OCZ Dual Channel DDR2, AMD X2 4600+, Abit Fatitly board, WD 160GB Raptor SATA, Maxtor Diamond Max 10 300 GB SATA, and a 250 GB external Hard Drive. I’ve already got two 18′ LCDs, a Logitech Laser mouse and Microsoft keyboard. Hopefully I’ll have all these parts within the next two months and play some F.E.A.R and Battlefield 2 and get back some benchmarks.
